The Story
My name is Andy Em… the son of immigrants who fled Cambodia during the Khmer Rouge in search of a better life.
Philadelphia is where my story begins.
I’ve lived here my entire life—this city raised me, shaped me, and gave my family a second chance. As a proud Cambodian American, I grew up experiencing Philly not just as a place… but as a feeling—gritty, passionate, unpredictable, and full of heart.
Today, I share my life with my fiancée and our two cats… building something that reflects everything this city has given me.
The Philadelphia Survival Kit was created from that place.
It’s more than just a collection of items—it’s a way to welcome people into the city I love. Whether you’re visiting for the first time or just getting to know Philly, I wanted to create something that helps you feel connected, prepared, and part of it all.
